How Can You Help?
VGSR is a privately funded all-volunteer organization, who relies heavily on public interest and support. Your generous help will assist us with our mission to rescue, rehabilitate and find loving, forever homes for wonderful and deserving dogs in need. The money that is donated is put to great use - even a few dollars can help the wonderful dogs that are in VGSR’s care. Anything you give us, large or small, will go towards saving another dog’s life. Equally as important are donations of goods and your TIME! Become an active VGSR volunteer and have direct contact with our wonderful dogs. On behalf of the dogs and puppies whose lives you continue to improve - thank you!

Your donation to VGSR may be able to go even further with a matching gift from your employer. Many companies have charitable programs which "match" their employees' charitable contributions by doubling or even tripling their gift with a donation from the company. Please find out if your employer has such a program. You may be able to help the dogs more than you thought!

Ginger's Fund
Ginger's Fund was created in memory of Sheila G., a long-time VGSR volunteer. This fund, named after one of Sheila's favorite fosters, is used specifically to help some of the old, the sick or the special needs dogs who come into VGSR’s care. As you would expect, these dogs may require extended stays in foster care until they are ready for adoption and have higher medical and rehabilitative costs.
Josie's Fund
Josie's fund provides financial assistance for the care of pets whose owners, because of special circumstances, are unable to afford the expense (i.e. spay/neuter; food; medical care; boarding). Examples of support this fund has provided include helping when short term support was needed due to job/income loss; assisting when a divorce and temporary move necessitated boarding the dog; supporting a woman who was forced to move to a shelter and providing for the dog until she was back on her feet; or providing for a dog when a family was having a major medical issue and paying for dog walkers, etc.
Canine Medical Advocacy Fund
If you should choose to donate to one or more of these very worthy funds, please be sure to indicate the Fund’s name (Ginger, Josie or Canine Medical Advocacy Fund) somewhere on your donation. Contributions may be mailed to our P.O. Box (P.O. Box 126, Sterling, Virginia 20167) or through Paypal (please see above) or for the Medical Advocacy Fund through our Facebook page. Our dogs love to sleep on Kuranda Dog beds, but we don't have enough for everyone.
If you would like to donate a bed at a special wholesale price for another dog to sleep in
comfort, please donate a Kuranda dog bed.
Vehicle Donations:
Are you (or do you know of someone) thinking of selling or trading in that old car, boat, motorcycle or RV? Why not donate it and save the hassle? VGSR can take vehicles as donations. VGSR can really use the donation and we will provide you with a tax-deductible donation receipt. It’s easy to do. With one phone call to (703) 574-2206, a professionally licensed, bonded and insured towing company will pick up the vehicle within 3 to 4 days. VGSR will receive 70% of the net proceeds and you will avoid the hassles of selling it yourself.
